Staying at a small village on the banks of Lake Lekshmozero, every day you will go skiing through the scenic Kenozersky National Park. You will see the old wooden churches and huts, visit historical sites, ride on the snow-covered lakes and get acquainted with the traditions and culture of the local people.
You will be skiing 18-20 km a day through the snowy woods. Different folk craft workshops, delicious dinners with local specialities and the Russian bathhouse are waiting for you in the cozy guest house in the evenings.

Itinerary
The journey begins in the city of Nyandoma in the Arkhangelsk region, where you should travel to by train on your own (see details in "Common question" section). We are ready to help with the purchase of tickets, if necessary, leave a comment in the application.
Day 1 Skiing at Lake Lekshmozero
You will be met at the railway station in Nyandoma and taken to the village of Morshchikhinskaya, located in Kenozersky National Park (160 km). Upon arrival you will be accommodated at the guest house.
For lunch you will taste the Kargopol cuisine with the specially cooked potatoes, local fish and cranberry juice. Next you will pick the ski equipment and will go on a small circular route in the vicinity of the village. In the evening you will visit the ecomuseum, go to the bathhouse and have dinner.
The length of the ski route — 2-3 km.
Day 2 The Great Watershed and the old Maselga village
Today you will enjoy a ski trip through the forests and lakes with a visit to the Great watershed between the Baltic and the White seas. Here are two lakes, separated for several kilometers by the ridge, which the ancient saamy called "Zemlyanaya gora" (Russian for "Earthen mountain"). The waters of one of the lakes fall into the White sea, and the other — into the Baltic Sea.
Then the route will take you to Khizhgora mountain, on the top of which the wooden Church of St. Alexander Svirsky was built in 1866. You will rise up to its belfry which offers a magnificent view of this unique Kargopol area.
Then you will visit& Maselga village and its small museum of wooden Russian architecture. In the evening you will come back to the guest house, have dinner and take part in the folk crafts master class. Then you can relax in sauna.

Day 3 Along the "trail of ancestors"
Today the ski route along the ancient trail to lakes Naglimozero and Sargozero is waiting for you. You will visit the monastic cell of the last monk of the Naglimozersky monastry built in the XVI century. Also you will see the old wooden river bridge being recently restored and the worship cross located at the historical place where the old roads were crossing.
Then you will return to the guest house and have dinner. In the evening the folk arts master class is also waiting for you.
The length of the ski route is about 18 km.
Day 4 Along the "monastery trail"
After breakfast you will be taken to the starting point of the ski route. It will pass along the historical "monastery trail" to the place where the Monastery of St. Kirill Chelmogorsky used to be. It was the oldest monastery of the whole Arkhangelsk region founded in the XIV century.
Next you will visit Trufanovo village and return to the base. After dinner you can participate in the folk crafts master class (extra charge).
The length of the ski route is about 22 km.
Day 5 Kargopol city tour
After breakfast you will move to Kargopol. Here a city-tour with the guide is waiting for you. You will get acquainted with the history of the old Russian Northern town and see the main places of interest.
After the excursion you will have lunch in a cafe with traditional Kargopol cuisine. You will taste meat roasted according to an old recipe as well as the famous Kargopol Ivan tea with pies. At 2 pm you will be taken to the railway station of Nyandoma.
Accommodation during the trip
During the tour you will stay at the guest house "Fisherman's hut" or "Visit center" (based on availability).
"Fisherman's hut" guest house is a cosy wooden building situated in the village of Morshchikhinskaya on the banks of Lake Lekshmozero, in the southern part of Kenozersky National Park. You will be accommodated in rooms for 2-4 people. A toilet and a shower are located on the floor. On the ground floor there is a cafe and a kitchen equipped with a gas stove, a refrigerator, a microwave oven and utensils. Bathhouse is ready for guests every day.
"Visit center" is a two-storey house with the exhibition on the first floor and hotel rooms on the second floor. It is also located in the village of Morshchikhinskaya. The museum exhibition on the ground floor presents the cultural and natural heritage of the Kenozersky National Park. Also there are a souvenir shop, a lounge with a TV and a small kitchen, equipped with a stove, a kettle, a microwave oven and kitchenware. You will be accommodated in double/twin and triple rooms with a view of Lake Lekshmozero. A toilet and a shower are located on the floor.
Common questions
An experienced guide will accompany you during this tour.
We recommend the train №118 from Moscow or train № 010 from St. Petersburg with arrival to Nyandoma at 9:55 am and 6:40 am respectively at the first day of the tour. As for return tickets, we recommend the trains departuring from Nyandoma after 2 pm at the last day of the tour.
Also we can advise you to combine this trip with visiting Moscow or St. Petersburg. If you want to add city-tours here, please, leave a comment in the application.
The price of the tour includes three meals a day. You will have breakfast and dinner at the guest house, as well as snacks on the route: hot tea, pies.
Insurance is not included in the price of the tour. We can help you with purchasing it — if necessary, inform the manager.
If you go with your ski equipment, the trip will cost you 1300 rubles (~18 EURO) cheaper.
We also give a 20% discount to children under 14 years old who take part in this trip with their parents.
In winter, the weather in the Arkhangelsk region is unstable. The average temperature is -15°C, but there may be thaws and frosts up to -30°C. The coldest temperatures are usually at the end of January, snowfalls are most likely in February and March.
